Teleradiology Service
To accommodate the expansion of the practice into several hospital locations and to serve rural facilities without access to radiologists, the medical staff of RPA has invested a great deal of time, effort and capital in tele-radiology services. RPA has partnered with Citynet to create a high-speed, data network to decrease transmission time for diagnostic images from our client facilities. Our goal has been to create a secure and stable infrastructure through which communication of mission-critical information can occur seamlessly and reliably. The most important benefit of tele-radiology is that it enables RPA to apply some of the best of what science and technology have to offer in their efforts to enhance the quality of care provided to their patients. To speed report distribution, RPA utilizes an Internet based Radiology Information System (RIS). Accessible to referring facilities over the Internet, the RIS product includes: Order Entry and Scheduling for the client; digital dictation and transcription; electronic signature; automatic report distribution, even to multiple locations if needed. By installing a tele-radiology network, RPA has met its goal of bringing its services to more hospitals and clinics in the area. According to Jeff Lilley, Administrator of Grafton City Hospital, "Our growing partnership with RPA has allowed our small rural hospital to provide the local community with services usually available only at larger teaching hospitals or tertiary care hospitals.
